Evangelizing blogging
Still wondering whether you should start blogging or not?
A couple days ago, I received an invite to a conference in New York City from a major Press media, for a product launch apparently. Return plane ticket + accomodation for 2 nights on the host. Guess how I was found…
Having inquired a little, they have invited a handful of European high tech bloggers, only. You can’t imagine how flattered I felt.
Unfortunately, I had to turn down the invite: it’s coming too soon and I have a huge agenda on the days of the conference.
Upon sending my refusal, I got one of the organizers over MSN Live Messenger. Here’s what I got: “we’re sorry that one of the most influential bloggers…”. Aren’t you guys mistaking a little?? Or even completely out of your minds?
Anyways, now I know I have to keep on blogging to be given the opportunity to travel to Big Apple for free (remember I met the person who now is my manager @ Microsoft through blogging)…And I miss New York so much!
PS: anyone else received the invite and is attending?
Addendum: Total cost for my host would have been something like USD 1100$ (USD 700$ for a return ticket from Paris + 2 nights @ USD 200$). Say I would’ve published 2 posts about the event. That’s USD 550$ per post. The Tech IT Easy front page has had 850 readers / day on average over the last month. So the cost per impression of Tech IT Easy roughly is USD .65$ (EUR .45) hence the CPM my host considers I have: USD 650$ (EUR 450). Not bad at all.

You are the second person I heard of getting an invitation to this show. The other person was a friend of a friend, but they are here in the states.
I am also hearing a lot about Evangelical Blogging. Some good and a lot not.
Good luck getting another opportunity to be included. That sounds like a sweet gig.

Scott (Businessgolf)> Could you maybe tell me which blog the other person runs? I would like to be able to read how it all was.
